The gay beach and clubs are in the Old Town area, also called the Zona Romantica. There are many popular hotels in this area but they tend to be more modest and don't boast lots of amenities.

If you're looking for a more of a resort-style experience, consider the Dreams just south of Old Town or the hotels in the main hotel zone, about 10 minutes away by cab.

Most hotels are pretty sticky about bringing guests back to your hotel room. The gay hotels will charge you for bringing a guest to the room.

The Abbey: The all-gay resort, close to the gay beach. Lately, we've been getting a lot of negative client feedback about the other gay resort, Blue Chairs Resort and, therefore, do not recommend it at this point.

Playa los Arco: Another all-inclusive hotel in the Old Town area.

The Tropicana: A modest hotel where it's all about the location and the views. Avoid the economy rooms.

The Buenaventura: A 4 star option on the northern edge of the Old Town and within a healthy walk of the gay beach.

The Hola and The Holiday Inn: Both are solid 4 star, all inclusive resorts in the hotel zone which get good reviews from gay travellers.

The Golden Crown Paradise: An excellent 4.5 star adults-only resort with a la carte dining, about 10 minutes by taxi from Old Town.
